Emulating a Goddess

This Dutch group was the first band from the Netherlands to chart a number one single in the United States with the release of the song Venus in late 1969. The group went by the name of Shocking Blue. Though the had a half-dozen more hits in Europe, Venus was their first and last hit in America:
